When You’re Waiting for that Thing You Really Want
When my family was waiting and searching for our new home, it took nearly four years to find what we wanted. Four years of friends and family members closing on homes and moving in while we wondered if we were being too picky or if we were just supposed to stay put.
But a “not yet” from God is not the same as a “no.” Through our wondering and waiting, He refined us. He showed us that when we wait on His timing and don’t rush things, the blessings are innumerable.
“I will bring the one–third through the fire,
Will refine them as silver is refined,
And test them as gold is tested.
They will call on My name,
And I will answer them.
I will say, ‘This is My people’;
And each one will say, ‘The Lord is my God.’”
Zechariah 13:9, NKJV
The waiting makes us appreciative of what we’d thought we may never have.
If you’re in your own season of waiting, rest in knowing that God sees you. He knows your heart. And when you obey His word and wait patiently on Him, He will bless you abundantly.
28 Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.
29 He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,
31 But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
